326. The Beauty Inside 뷰티 인사이드 (2018) Korean

This was one of the dramas I was the most upset about losing legal access to with the death of DF. But I wanted to finish it enough to find another way, it just took me a while to do it. You loose a lot of steam when you lose your streaming platform, apparently (fist shakes towards those responsible for throwing off my groove and ruining a lot of people's lives in many ways). Anyway, to the actual drama. I was interested in this, having watched the movie a while ago. There were obvious differences in the premise right away. The roles were switched. It was the female lead who had the body changing problem and had her change just once a month for a week instead of a different person every time they sleep. And instead of being a normal person who loved her, our male lead had face blindness on top of it. Well, face blindness seems to be the latest trend in weird problems, starting around the time of Girl Who Sees Smells? Sometime around then, I think. Well, since then I've seen everywhere as a replacement of amnesia almost. Anyway, this wasn't the only drama that had it during it's airing time. 100 Days My Prince also had a face blind character. But I digress.

278. Temperature of Love 사랑의 온도 (2017) Korean

This one took me a long time to finish.  We started out watching it together, but soon it was put on the back burner because there were many things we would rather watch.  It got so bad that finally I asked them if I could just finish it without them.  They were totally fine with it.  So I did.  Even then, I struggled though it, because it was too, I don't know how to say it, predictable?  We all knew how it was going to end, and it wasn't going to be happy for everyone.  They all knew how it was going to end, but they still had to fight over the girl.  Yeah, maybe they all got stronger for it, but I really didn't like seeing them fight all the time.  I was really invested in the bromance, so for Kim Jae Wook to try and shake the couple, when he was the only one who was going to be hurt was just not fun for me to watch, no matter how beautiful he is.  I was also in it for the other couples as well, although I have to say I shipped the sou chef with the sommelier.  Team sommelier forever!!!!  But my favorite couple was the assistant director and writer.  I wanted there to be way more of them.

However, all that aside, I did like how there was lots of character growth, and yeah, it was a painful process that made me take this show a lot slower, I liked how they learned from all the painful experiences.  They all had to come to terms with something that was holding them back from progressing and being happy, and they were all able to grow through that.  None of the characters ended up where they started, really.  Characters that I thought were going to be the worst ended up being fine, or great.  I don't think I hated anyone.  That's always a plus.  I thought I was going to hate some people when they were first introduced, but then, when we saw a more well rounded side on them, we didn't hate them, and that was cool.  Like the mom (who is my bae) or the director.

By the end of the show, when all the relationships (the bromance) were back where they should be and maybe stronger than ever, I was super happy and had that cheesy grin on my face as everyone was being cute together, and I had to admit that this show wasn't half bad and that while I didn't feel like watching it a lot of the time, it was still pretty solid.  You just have to be ready for a lot of angry/sad talking and a lot of misunderstandings and mopiness.  Not my favorite things, but whatever.  That's how these characters grew, I suppose.

Korean Movie Night: Because I Love You 사랑하기 때문에 (2017) Korean

Despite how generic the name of this movie is (I kept forgetting it's name because there are a million titles that sound similar) this is a different sort of movie.  It's comedic with a lot of heart, but also has some twist and stuff that I wasn't expecting.

Cha Tae Hyun gets into an accident and dies... or at least wakes up in not his body.  He doesn't remember who he is, but he knows he's not a high school girl.  He meets another high school girl, who he is able to explain the situation to, and who soon becomes his best friend to help him figure out what is going on.  And it doesn't stop with the high school girl.  He jumps around to a police detective, a old grandma, and a high school teacher.  Each time he has to help them with their situation, and play cupid.  In turn, he is able to slowly remember who he is and what he needs to do to stop this body jumping.

This is great because not only do we have Cha Tae Hyun acting like all these different people as he is in their bodies, we have them, acting like he is in their bodies, and they all do a great job.

It was fluffy and cute, but also interesting, with some of the twists that I wasn't expecting.  I loved how it became a growth process for everyone.  He helped them, but they also helped him to grow as well, and to fulfill his own wishes.  It has a lot to do with being selfless and love.  It was cute and I do recommend it.  It made me laugh, cry, and all the good emotion stuffs.
