337. I Hate You, Juliet 너 미워! 줄리엣 (2019) Korean

Lee Hong Ki, Jung Hye Sung, Choi Woong

Drama Rating: 5/10     Neck Score: A-

This was a ho hum drama. It didn't really do much and didn't have a lot to say for itself. It was shorter, 18 episodes that were only about 20 minutes long, so not a lot was bound to happen and of course what little did happen would be resolved super fast. But it had good ideas that just never went anywhere. If it weren't for the fact that I love Hong Ki and Hye Sung, I probably wouldn't have started it and definitely wouldn't have finished it. As it was I forgot I was watching it all the time and only when I was bored flipping through shows and it happened to be there did I remember it existed. So, it's not like I hated it or anything, it was just very forgettable.

So, it's at an arts college where famous people attend. Hong Ki is a child star getting his acting degree. Our girl Hye Sung is a freshman aspiring to be a writer of dramas. They meet at a party. Classic accident where he crashes in to her by accident and they're caught in the apologize to me trap and fall into the pool. Then the most interesting thing of the whole drama happens, he can suddenly hear her thoughts in his head and thinks he's going crazy. But that is the key to the whole show, because he becomes incredibly curious to figure out why he can (after calming down a bit) which is the catalyst to him following her around and disrupting the budding romance between her and sunbae. I didn't like him. He seemed fake to me. I didn't trust him because he was working with the teacher, who I also didn't trust because Han Sang Jin always plays bad guys. Like always. Even if you think he's nice at first, he'll end up being the bad guy.

Anyway, so it has this fantasy element that sparked the romance. But they really didn't use it for anything besides that. Unless it was to tie it back in to like the first love thing, because yes it was super stereotypical and that was a thing. But other than that, it really wasn't that important. It was the typical college drama with celebrities and bullying, love triangles and incredibly low stakes. Actually though, for a celebrity dating story, this was the most chill. But he was just a child actor and not like an idol or anything. But most of the time he was really just a normal college student that was a little too full of himself. But yeah, as for actual dramatic moments it was like hey, there is a problem! Oh no! Oops, solved already. Even the inevitable dating scandal (he is a celebrity I guess) was over super quick.

So not remarkable in any way. Not even super fluffy. It was more like a chill romance. So if you want chill but still cute and happen to like Hong Li and Hye Sung, it's not bad. Better to binge maybe, since it's so short and forgettable in between. Yeah.
