326. The Beauty Inside 뷰티 인사이드 (2018) Korean

This was one of the dramas I was the most upset about losing legal access to with the death of DF. But I wanted to finish it enough to find another way, it just took me a while to do it. You loose a lot of steam when you lose your streaming platform, apparently (fist shakes towards those responsible for throwing off my groove and ruining a lot of people's lives in many ways). Anyway, to the actual drama. I was interested in this, having watched the movie a while ago. There were obvious differences in the premise right away. The roles were switched. It was the female lead who had the body changing problem and had her change just once a month for a week instead of a different person every time they sleep. And instead of being a normal person who loved her, our male lead had face blindness on top of it. Well, face blindness seems to be the latest trend in weird problems, starting around the time of Girl Who Sees Smells? Sometime around then, I think. Well, since then I've seen everywhere as a replacement of amnesia almost. Anyway, this wasn't the only drama that had it during it's airing time. 100 Days My Prince also had a face blind character. But I digress.

219. Cinderella and Four Knights 신데렐라와 네 명의 기사 (2016) Korean

Fluff.  Fluff that turned into crap.  Well, it was already pretty crappy fluff, but it was just nonsense by the end.  The biggest problem: the pacing, which is really a writing problem.  They had Ji Woon (Jung Il Woo) being Emo Boy for too long.  Then they gave us exactly five scenes of them being cute together, so they would have something to constantly repeat in all those mopey flashback sequences, before ripping them apart again.  Then they had random corporate drama thrown in at the end, trying to change the genre of the drama, but it was magically solved in two seconds, because it was the last episode and it had to.  To make this all worse, this show was pre-produced, so they had time to make it better.  They had time to write it well and edit it well, but they didn't, and so it remains crap.  The great thing about it was that there were good moments.  Jung Il Woo is like the king of cutsy, so when our OTP was being cute, boy were they being cute.  But like I said, it was only like five scenes.  Also, we had to endure him being emo for too long so his cutesy potential was limited.  Park So Dam is like the cutest thing ever.  I love her and think she is a great actor.  Of course they had to mess up her character with bad writing at the end, but she acted it consistently well.  Ahn Jae Hyun was born to play a butt head.  Lee Jung Shin is adorable.  Choi Min is a sexy man, especially in those double breasted suits.  Mmmmm.  Worst parts of the show.  That mopey girl, Son Na Eun.  She made Ahn Jae Hyun look like he could act good.  She's runner up for the stoneface award, but she has her one talent.  Lame crying while sewing, or just while blankly staring into a distance not worth staring into.  There was also way too many plot holes.  Why didn't anyone ever believe in DNA tests?  You'd think that this would be the first thing you'd do.  So much drama could have been avoided!  But then what would they have done for 16 episodes?  Haha, it was so bad, but still strangely enjoyable to watch, but only if you are making fun of it the whole time and/or a huge fan of Jung Il Woo.  I might fit into both of those categories...

Blood: Is that good bad or just bad bad?

So I started watching Blood last week, and couldn't contain my laughter all the way through episode 1.  There were so many moments of utter hilarious delight, although I don't think they intended for that to be the reaction.  But there it is.

I know they are trying to be funny at times, but those aren't really the times that are funny.  But there is a lot of compelling points to the premise and plot... and then there is the bad special effects and overkill efforts to look cool and bad-a... well... do they equal out?  Is this an entertaining "good" bad show, or is it just bad bad, the kind you only watch when you're in "that mood?"

139. Blood 블러드 (2015) Korean

This show in a nutshell: 18 episodes of nothing really happening but lame stupidness and bad acting, and then everything you absolutely didn't want to happen being crammed into the last two episodes for a finale that is so epically and ridiculously bad that you are extra angry that you just wasted 20 hours of your life only to see everything you actually liked okay destroyed and ruined for forever.  This show took itself way too seriously, and was not only badly written, but also very, very badly acted. Well, maybe it was just Fish Face (Ku Hye Sun) who was actually bad at acting.  Everyone else just wasn't as good as they typically are because the script was so bad.  I think that Ahn Jae Hyun was just not ready for a lead role quite yet, especially one so demanding as a badly written vampire surgeon.  I used to play this game while watching where I imagined how different a scene would be if Jung Il Woo were actually playing the role.  It was different, but not any better, because even he couldn't save Night Watchman, so... but it was still a fun game.  But really, this show doesn't even make sense.  No one behaves in a remotely logical way, and they literally break every ethical code ever.  And not just the evil vampires, like the people who should know better too.  And where the heck did all the normal doctors go to?  They literally disappeared from view in the second half of the show.  Did they fire everyone who wasn't absolutely necessary to the plot to save money when they still were having crappy ratings and hence no extra sponsorship funds or something?  I'd believe it, because that is really how bad this show was.  I wouldn't have been sad either, if I were one of the fired secondary characters.  They had sense to jump ship and get cast in something better, I hope.  Whew, this was just so bad.  It might have started as good bad, but it was definitely just bad bad bad by the end.  The one thing that could have saved it was maybe killing everyone (as in the lead dude), but they didn't even do that.  They had to mess it up with an ambiguously (hopeful?) open ended mess.  Basically, this show is What.the.heck/crap/lame.
