230. The Man Living in Our House 우리집에 사는 남자 (2016) Korean

I was a little disappointed that this turned out to be more of a melodrama than a comedy.  They had made it look so funny, and sometimes it was, but then they couldn't get past the tragic loves part as they were in love but had a stepfather/daughter relationship legally.  This seems even more pathetic when everything is eventually solved with no headache and why didn't they just do that in the first place?  I did like most of the characters, although I have to like the side characters more than the main couple.  The three little dumpling ducklings, so cute.  The little sister of the 2nd male lead, hilarious.  The 2nd female lead, the most likable bitca ever.  She was thoroughly an evil man stealing jerk, but I loved her and totally shipped her with the reluctant neighborhood friend lawyer 2nd male lead.  I think I probably said "he's so flipping hot" every time Lee Soo Hyuk was on screen.  His attitude was also super fun, as he was so matter-of-fact and lazy.  I loved the developing relationship between him and his crazy stalker little sister.  I also love how the siblings names were Duk Bong and Duk Shim.  I did love Soo Ae and Kim Young Kwang too.  I liked how ridiculously their relationship grew, fighting and being "family" then finally getting to be a couple, they were just also all melodramatic at times.  really, the worst part is that everything was so dramatic, with his gangster past, and trying to protect the mother's land, and then it all gets solved so quickly.  I guess the gangster part didn't, but once the second male lead decided to not be selfish any more then everything was magically solved.  It was lamely amazing.  Why didn't they just all work together in the first place?  Huh?  Haha, so not the best, but it was still enjoyable enough, plus lots of hot men and strong women, so win?

209. Lucky Romance 운빨로맨스 (2016) Korean

All the points in this drama go to Ryu Jun Yeol for being flipping adorable.  Without that adorableness, this show might have fallen flat on its face.  I love Hwang Jung Eum, but her character was of a person who had an overactive guilt complex which made her think everything was her fault, making her a self-sacrificing coward.  That makes for a frustrating plot.  However, she and Ryu Jun Yeol had excellent chemistry and we totally adorable when the plot wasn't being frustrating.  He just made his typical genius with issues character so lovable and real that you couldn't help but love him.  Also, all the other characters in the show were pretty likable.  I especially had to love Chicken Ahjussi.  How could Jung In Gi play such a cute ahjussi in this one and such an evil detective in Squad 38?  At the same time!?!  He's amazing, that's how.  Hyun Bin's name, haha.  Amy's (Lee Chung Ah) bad jokes.  Lee Soo Hyuk just looking way too hot even when we were screaming out: "Go away, Gary!"  Seriously, those 2nd lead peeps were as annoying as heck sometimes, because that girl was already ready to run like a scared rabbit, and then they tried their darndest to mess them up when they never had a chance.  That's what made it all the better, they literally never had a chance.  Even though she kept trying to run and hide thinking she'd ruin everyone's life, she consistently loved him and would be adorable around him too.  So really it was pretty consistently good until the end, because our couple was in love like the whole time and being adorable all the time.  Then the second to last episode was super draggy so it was boring, but not bad.  Then they solved everything really quickly, which made it unbelievable, but whatever, it was a happy and good ending, so I'll forgive it, because it was adorable.  I couldn't help but grin stupidly.  He said "yay!" which is the most adorable thing in the universe.  Like I said, Ryu Jun Yeol makes everything better.  Also, we got to see that stupid shaman dude get some comeuppance.  He's probably one of the only peeps we really hated.  Him, and how she wore pants under all her maxi skirts.  What the heck was that fashion choice?  That was a nothing choice.  Her poor legs must have been so hot.

Still More Men Who Make Me Watch Dramas Against My Will: Sultry Voice Edition

Do I watch dramas just for the sultry voice of one of the male leads?  Why yes, yes I do.  Some men just have buttery, husky, velvety, and/or soothing voices that just make me what to listen to them while I watch whatever bad drama they are in.  Seriously, they need to stop seducing us (and by that I mean mostly me) with their sexy voices.  Dude.

Sometimes it's only their voice I find attractive *cough cough Lee Sun Gyun cough cough* but really isn't that enough.  I mean... that sexy voice.

Bromances Continued: 6 More Recent Drama Enhancing Men Relationships

If you're anything like me, you can't get enough of bromances, so here is a list of more bromances that have warmed my little heart and caused me delight recently.  Some of these are just recent for me (as I am currently watching them) but some are current dramas that just keep getting better as the bros keep loving (whether they want to or not) each other.

New Neck Crush: King of High School (2014)

You probably know how much I love Seo In Guk, from my reviews on Love Rain, Answer Me 1997, and Master's Sun, but his new drama King of High School proves that he is just getting better with age... which is funny to say since he is still playing a high school student, which he still pulls off, but boy is he getting hotter.


You know who else is getting hotter?  Lee Soo Hyuk.

Man.  Rawr.

163. Scholar Who Walks The Night 밤을 걷는 선비 (2015) Korean

So many beautiful vampires.  That's about all there was to this show.  It's plot was okay, but kind of draggy, as in they could have solved it sooner but they didn't.  They literally just ended up doing what they could have done so many episodes ago.  Sigh.  It was clearly about how hot Lee Joon Ki and Kim Soo Hyuk were.  It totally emphasized the sexuality of vampires.  They made scenes needlessly sexy, which was funny...well I rolled my eyes at the fan servicey sexiness of the scenes anyways.  It wasn't as bad as The Night Watchmen, but I did accidentally call it Night Watchmen all the time.  It has some similarities in the cheesiness department.  The biggest difference is that everyone in this one was a good actor, even Changmin, who I had my doubts about.  Sadly Changmin's character was a little sissy poo who caused a lot of the dragginess.  There was also everyone trying to sacrifice themselves for everyone else, blah blah blah.  I think by the end what saved it for me was how sympathetic they managed to make the villain while still making him an evil vampire.  Calling the Chief Minister out on his crap, "Are you even human after all of this?" and going on a rampage out of guilt when he killed someone he didn't mean to.  His conflict about emotions he didn't understand and dealing with hypocritical humans was nice.  The parts with him were about the only thing I liked about the ending, which was just weird.  I didn't get the need for a year gap or whatever it was they did to try and make the ending happy or whatever.  Also, props to Joon Ki for playing a human, a vampire, and a mix of the two so well, and looking so darn pretty as he did it too.  So it was okay, but super draggy/silly too.  But as a historical drama portraying vampires, it was decent.  It was one of the better vampire dramas I've seen (but is that really saying anything?)

105. High School King of Savvy 고교처세왕 (2014) Korean

What... the... heck... I don't think this show actually had a plot.  It was just a situation.  No wonder it was super hard for me to get into it.  I designated it my "work out" show because there was no motivation to watch it, because nothing actually happened.  It was just funny and cute with no real action.  Just a situation.  A high school kid has to pretend to be his older brother and work as a director for this big company.  It pretended to have a plot for like two episodes... episodes 14 and 15 to be exact, but then it was resolved so quickly so there was no point really.  Then after that it got extremely boring... and completely ridiculous.  Seriously ridiculous.  The last episode was outright stupid.  Whatever.  I think the only thing that made this show work at all was the actors.  Seo In Guk can pull off everything from the high schooler to his cool older brother.  I loved the two high schooler best friends and the little sister.  Loved, loved, loved the grandpa.  Also, as I said in an post earlier, Lee Soo Hyuk is super super hot.  That man... that part when he was crying in the rain and his hair was all wet.  Actually his character had the most plot out of all of them.  He had a situation and drove the action along when anything ever happened.  Also he and Seo In Guk had a fun bromance.  Lee Ha Na was amazing at being so naturally awkward.  Props to her.  I have a hard time not believing that that's the way she is in real life.  It was very outlandish and not typical, and that is something on the positive side.  It was constantly funny and cute, but lacked the driving force that an actual plot would give you.  It didn't need to be that long and it needed to have more action, although it was plenty funny.  At least the characters were all lovable, and the cameos were great.  Loved it and hated it at the same time, but mostly just because it was long, draggy, and ridiculous.  The last episode just kept going, and going, and going...

45. What's Up? 왓츠 업 (2011) Korean

I should actually finish this one before I write a review.  It's not like I didn't like it... I just didn't love it and got distracted by something else, and then forgot about it.  I do want to finish it though... because Daesung and Lee Soo Hyuk... also Jo Jung Suk.  They were the reasons I started (well Lee Soo Hyuk was a bonus since I only knew him from the 2ne1 music video "It Hurts")  I remember thinking the main dude was annoying through...  That might have been a problem.  I have like 6 episodes left I think, so we'll see how this gets updated.... Ok, I finally finished it, and it wasn't so bad.  I actually don't know why I stopped watching, besides getting distracted with other shows.  In all honesty it's really hard to care about shows that center around musicals (just look at my reaction to Heartstrings).  They just don't do it for me.  I just don't care.  So this one... not that compelling to me.  The only things that were compelling to me were the men that I loved (Daesung, Jo Jung Suk, and Lee Soo Hyuk).  I loved the music in it, which is something.  Every time that Daesung or Jung Suk's voice came on I got happier about watching it.  That one girl was annoying, the one that Lim Ju Hwan liked, because she was such a naive and incompetent little kid, but she became less important.  I though Ju Hwan was annoying at first when he was being an angry young man, but he got over it and became likeable.  I didn't think that Daesung was in it enough.  The ending was really open, which was what they were going for, so no worries.  I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it either.  The singing and stuff was well done because it was rarely an actual performance and it usually was integrated into the story well to make it more emotional.  For a musical show it was actually quite good, I guess.
