302. Switch: Change the World 스위치 - 세상을 바꿔라 (2018) Korean

Jang Geun Suk, Han Ye Ri, Jung Woong In, Jo Hee Bong, Shin Do Hyun, An Seung Hwan

Drama Rating: 6/10     Neck Score: A

So, this started out really great and then kind of fell apart near the end, and maybe redeemed itself a bit, but not enough to be as amazing. The most amazing part is Jang Geun Suk playing two characters to the point that we believed he was two different people. Having tender moments with himself, aw. The worst part was that the subbers were extra slow and even when the episodes aired on Wednesday and Thursday, some weeks we didn't get to watch it until the following Monday, and even then that might be at the 94% (which means more like 76% for how relevant the information in the unsubbed scenes is).

So we have Sa Do Chan, the con artist, and then we have Baek Joon Soo, the prosecutor. Then we have a common enemy, Geum Tae Woong, and a balance between what the law can do and what a conman can. That premise alone was pretty good, and I was so excited to have Jang Geum Suk back on my screen that I was willing to watch pretty much anything for him. I had/have a serious love for him (as is shown in the fact that I watched Pretty Man, Mary Stayed Out All Night, and You're My Pet- twice- just for him).

Still More Men Who Make Me Watch Dramas Against My Will: Sultry Voice Edition

Do I watch dramas just for the sultry voice of one of the male leads?  Why yes, yes I do.  Some men just have buttery, husky, velvety, and/or soothing voices that just make me what to listen to them while I watch whatever bad drama they are in.  Seriously, they need to stop seducing us (and by that I mean mostly me) with their sexy voices.  Dude.

Sometimes it's only their voice I find attractive *cough cough Lee Sun Gyun cough cough* but really isn't that enough.  I mean... that sexy voice.

You're My Pet 너는 펫 (2011) Korean

Kim Ha Neul, Jang Geun Suk

Movie rating: 5/10     Neck score: A

What the... hahaha, this movie.  It was hilariously stupid, but I loved it and watched it twice (within one week no less.  I think I was sad that week so I needed something completely stupid to cheer me up).  This successful business lady is trying to not feel lonely, so she decides maybe to get a dog, but when her little brother asks her to let his dancer friend stay at her place for a while, she ends up letting him stay on as her "pet."  It gets really weird as she even treats him as a dog, buying him a collar and such.  He gets into it as well, and they both draw up a contract as to the rules of pet and master.  But then when she starts dating her old college crush, her "pet" starts to get jealous.  But she also gets weird problems when she doesn't know whether she sees him as a dog or a man... it's just over-the-top silliness, but I loved it.  It was the right kind of silly for that time, I guess.

68. Pretty Man 예쁜남자 (2013) Korean

Jang Geun Suk, IU, Lee Jang Woo, Han Chae Young

Drama Rating: 6/10     Neck Score: B-

What I liked about this one was that it wasn't really about the romance, it was about this pretty man Doko Ma Te (Jang Geun Suk) discovering himself and reaching his full potential.  He is a pretty man who grew up with a single mom and now uses his looks to get money and other fancy things.  He's not exactly a man slut, but he does get rich sugar mamas to help him live the lifestyle he wants.  But what he really wants is to succeed on his own and meet his dad.  Then this woman (Han Chae Young) pops in and tells him who he is so he can help her bring her mother-in-law down so she can get her place in the family back.  In the mean time he has to become powerful himself to take this lady down.  He has to date/get to know a bunch of powerful women to learn from them, all the while getting help from his childhood friend/fangirl (IU) and the dude that has recently been following his friend around (much to Ma Te's displeasure.  It was much better than I thought it would be, based on the title and premise, and I actually really liked it, even though it went a little cray cray at the end with the birth secrets and family drama stuffs.  I liked how it was about character development and getting better.  Still not a fan of Lee Jang Woo though.

61. Mary Stayed Out All Night 매리는 외박중 (2010) Korean

Jang Geun Suk, Moon Geun Young, Kim Jae Wook, Kim Hyo Jin

Drama Rating: 4/10     Neck Score: A

This was another one I watched because of that list of 100 best dramas.  That list was probably crap, but whatever.  I don't regret expanding my viewing pool.  This one was just dumb.  The premise was dumb.  Jang Geun Suk's hair... hot.  But it's about this girl, Mae Ri, whose dad is in so much debt all the time that they are constantly running and getting their stuff taken away.  But he runs into his old friend, who was in love with the dad's wife, so he decides to pay all the debt if Mae Ri (who looks just like her mom) marries his son.  In the mean time Mae Ri meets Jang Geun Suk, who is this long haired musician in a band.  She hits him with her car, but is so worried about scams that she follows him to get his signature promise that he is fine and wont sue later.  He's been scammed by agents making him sign slave contracts that he wont sign and they end up getting drunk together and he takes her home and crashes at her house for a while since he no longer has a house.  Then when Mae Ri finds out that her dad wants her to get married she uses Jang Geun Suk to pretend to be already married.  Then there is a bunch of stupidness as her dad registers her marriage with the son so she's technically married to both men.  Then there is a bunch of sharing the wife crap and it's dumb.  There are some cool songs.  Jang Geun Suk's rock band is pretty sweet.  It was so cray cray and lame that the writer even quit half way through.  Just silliness, really.

9. Love Rain 사랑비 (2012) Korean

Jang Geun Suk, Yoona, Seo In Guk, Kim Young Kwang

Drama Rating: 2.5/10     Neck Score: A

Watched this for Jang Geun Suk, fell in love with Seo In Guk.  Also, Yoona must have not liked Jang Geun Suk cause zero chemistry from her side, while plenty from his.  I used to think she just couldn't act, but later shows have proved me wrong.  She had way more chemistry with Lee Beom Soo (eyebrow raise?)  Two love stories: Parents and Kids.  Draggy, draggy, draggy.  The first few episodes were the parents, in the late 70s/early 80s.  Sweet, but tragic.  Chemistry between Jang Geun Suk and Yoona was fine.  Modern kids love story- hate each other at first, fine.  After they fall in love, suddenly no chemistry on her side.  Weird.  Then there are like 8 episodes of the same thing- repeated noble idiocy on both the parents' and childrens' sides, lots of moping- "I love you but we're going to be siblings!" "We can't be together cause our kids love each other!" etc.  Seo In Guk is awesome in both the past and present.

3. You Are Beautiful 미남이시네요 (2009) Korean

Park Shin Hye, Jang Geun Suk, Lee Hong Ki, Jang Yong Hwa

Drama Rating: 6/10     Neck Score: A

Hong Sisters save drama for me!  This one is delightful, ridiculous, but really fun to watch.  It also has lots of attractive boys in it, so it was just what I needed after the last drama I watched.  Nun dresses as her twin brother to join a kpop boy band?  Yes, please.  As girls dressed as guys go, this one is probably one of the funnier.  Also, super props go to both Jang Geun Suk and Lee Hong Ki for playing their parts so delightfully well.  This one is fluffy, but a good kinda fluffy.
