Lego Lee, Hsieh Nikki, Xie Kun Da
Drama Rating: 9/10 Neck Score: A
This is the highest rating I've ever given a Taiwanese drama, and it 100% deserved it! (Well, my love for Lego Lee might have inflated it a tiny bit.... maybe...). It was a mystery crime fantasy drama that actually surprised me and had me guessing. There were plot twists that I couldn't foresee that were actually good. It was a bit mind boggling, and that was awesome. Plus all the actors were really good and had good chemistry, and there was a wonderfully progression of our OTP. It was a very fun and watchable show. I'm sad it's over, but also glad that it ended so well.
So, it is about a time and space merging that happens in this one apartment every night from 10:06-10:52. The tenant who lives in the apartment 4 months ago, a rookie reporter, and the just suspended lawyer who takes over the apartment 4 months later, suddenly find their two versions of the apartment united making them "roommates" for 46 min every night.
It's a great opposites attract type romance, since she is fresh and friendly while he is cold and arrogant. He thinks she's a ghost at first. She thinks he's a pervert (with plenty of reason in true Taiwanese Drama fashion- nothing like a good and awkward shower scene, wink). Then he realizes that if she is from the past then she can help him change his future so that he doesn't lose the case by using fake evidence, or they could keep the murder from happening in the first place. That's right, it's also about murder.
That is also an interesting aspect of the show, because our couple has to unite forces in the past and future to prevent or solve a murder so that they can protect the lives of their friends. But then also not have their own lives ruined. Seeing their motivations change over time as they get to know each other and become better people was nice. Figuring out what they want from life, falling in love, making out a whole bunch. This couple is great. What's more, the ending is so great. It's rare that I end a show giggling and fan-girling, but this couple is just the cutest. I got super invested in their love story because it grew so naturally, and had all of the relatable hang ups. Can she trust him? His past self is making it hard for her to trust his future self, which, when he remembers that, makes him angry at himself for being such a jerk in the past.
It was pretty awesome time travelling drama too. The use of butterfly effect was very interesting and made a lot of sense. The ripples of the changes they made were really interesting, as were the things they couldn't change because people are really consistent, even when circumstances change slightly. The whole concept was really cool and they followed through with it pretty well. Even if they also relied heavily on fate, but really why else would the merging take place? I really want to learn how to make an origami Pegasus now (I looked it up and the training video was like an hour long!).
Yes, there were some dramatic parts. There are some hateful people, but not very many of them. Even if the ending was over dramatic in spots and cheesy in others, I was pretty darn satisfied with it and it left me, as I said, grinning and giggling, so I have no complaints here. It is a good one. So good. LOVED it.
