285. 20th Century Boy and Girl 20세기 소년소녀 (2017) Korean

How is Kim Ji Suk so perfect?  I was like crying at the end of every episode because it wasn't fair that he was so cute and sweet and sexy and perfect, and I really just couldn't handle it and he needs to be a male lead from now on!  You probably know by now that Kim Ji Suk is one of my favorite actors of all time.  I've taken to calling him "My Husband."  But he was not the only reason that this show was so wonderful.  Basically it was because of everyone.  There were very few people we didn't like.  In fact, they were all bit parts like: the creepy taxi driver, the evil Deasi Patch reporter, that mean rival actress from the beginning, and Young Shim's dad.  Everyone else was awesome.  I would literally marry any other of the male characters, including Jin Jin's CEO.  He was a nice guy, and I loved it!

I loved all three of our couples!  I might have gotten the most excited about Ah Reum and Jung Woo Sung, because they were so cute and funny!  Also, they were so different and really good at working through those differences.  Like a perfect case of opposites attracting and working out just fine.  I loved the cute lawyer sunbae with cute/weird drinking habits!  So cute!  Cutest drunk ever!  And naturally I loved everything about Ji Won and Jin Jin, even if they took forever to get together when compared with the electrifying and enormous amounts of chemistry they had.  It's surprising no fires started with all those sparkly eyes they made at each other!  The whole time the love triangle was happening, I would be like: Anthony, you're great, but you're not the guy.  But I was hoping something good would happen to him still.  In fact, his story might have been one of my favorites, because of a good cameo!

Women Who Make Me Watch Dramas Against My Will: Goddess Edition

Time for another collection of lovely ladies.  This time I grouped them by the category "Goddess."  You know when your actress just has it all and they are so awesome that this might be the only appropriate way to refer to them?  They are gorgeous, great at acting, and full of personality.  I could probably put all my ladies on this list, but the purpose of these groups was to create decent sized posts.

These are the women who the first thing you think of when trying to describe them is: She's a freaking goddess.  Hashtag woman crush for days.

191. Madame Antoine 마담 앙트완 (2016) Korean

DERP FACE!!!!!!! I think the number one reason I loved this show was because of all the wonderful and ridiculous faces that Sung Joon made.  The main plot was weird.  I liked how different it was, but it also needed a little more to it so that it wouldn't fall into the draggy trap... which it did.  But, it was still super enjoyable because we had a great cast of characters, and they were all characters.  Characters with unique and quirky personalities that made them lovable, even when they were being as frustrating as heck.  Which was a lot.  It also made us laugh because she was the ENFP to his INTJ, which just might be the exact Myers-Briggs personality types of some of us (nonchalantly clears throat).  I did have to turn my research brain off because of all the ethical issues in this show, confidentiality being the least of these issues, but once I just got passed that, I was able to enjoy the show a lot.  It's a K-drama, we're not expecting it to be realistic, okay?  I loved the back and forth between Hye Rim and Soo Hyun, since they both were super smart in their own way and played each other so hard.  Unfortunately that dragged on for a little too long, which was a little frustrating, but I still think that it was able to wrap up all the loose ends and give us a good solid ending.  I think I speak for us all (I watched this show with Curdy and Lizabreff of course) when I say that Ji Ho (Lee Joo Hyung) was just the cutest.  What an adorable, dorky, little clueless nerd.  When he went around with the sheep style towel on his head.  Dying of cuteness.  And his little walk and sissy run.  He did such a good job with that.  I loved Hye Rim's clothes!  Also Dr. Bae's clothes!  The girls in this show had a 95% approval rating when it came to their style.  The men had a 75% because too many bad turtlenecks/weird sweaters.  I seriously need to do a Madame Antoine Fashion Show post.

Birth of a Beauty: How One Couple Made a Drama Worth Watching- or why they should let couples be cute for longer

Having just recently finished up the ridiculous Romantic Comedy Revenge Melodrama that was Birth of a Beauty, I feel inclined to discuss why I even watched it in the first place and what made me keep watching it.  It was like the best and the worst at the same.  Insanely cute romantic comedy, ridiculous and scream worthy makjang.  I guess the balance was enough to make me keep coming back?

133. Couple or Trouble 환상의 커플 (2006) Korean

Han Ye Seul, Oh Ji Ho, Kim Sung Min, Park Han Byul

Drama Rating: 6/10     Neck Score: B

Not the Hong Sisters' best drama, but a million times better than the movie it was based on (Overboard, 1987, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell).  But can I just say Oh Ji Ho's arms.  Mmmmm!  He spent half the show in sleeveless shirts and it was wonderful.  So it's a jerk rich girl falling overboard and getting amnesia, and this poor handyman dude deciding to get revenge on her by saying they were dating and making her do housework at his place until he gets his money's worth.  The best part about it was all the side characters.  The three nephews were adorable, especially the youngest one.  Kang Ja was amazing, I love love loved her.  The Ahjumma/Ahjussi romance was amazing (Bbangoo!) and I (not so) secretly loved Billy (the second male lead) until he became a butt at the end.  He was just so funny!  His nightmares were seriously the best part of the show.  It was definitely good, but still definitely an early work by the Hong Sisters.  At least it didn't have a year gap like we were so worried about.  I hate them year gaps.

127. Birth of a Beauty 미녀의 탄생 (2014) Korean

The thing that makes this show work is how flippin' adorable the main couple is.  But they are pretty much the only likable people in the entire show.  Well Secretary Choi and the PD chick and maybe the mom and friend are ok, but everyone else in the show are evil murderers or just plain stupid (Oppa and Granny).  I loved their revenge comedy stuff from the first half, and I love love loved them falling in love and being cute together, but then when it got serious it got draggy, and I really hated how they kept the other chick around for like ever.  She was one of the worst, evilest bitca ever, and she needed to be punished harder than she was.  I shouted hateful things at her every time she was on the screen.  Also Wiener Thinker and Dog Poop Face (the other men in the show) were just annoying, evil, and dumb.  So much hate for everyone else and so much love for the main couple.  It made it a bit hard to watch because there was so much ew, but then there was also so much cute that it was never as bad as we thought it was going to be, so it was a weirdly good and bad drama at the same time.  Definitely over-the-top ridiculous in plot, but full off adorableness at the same time.  Well, it is what it is.
