Jang Hyuk, Park Se Young, Jang Seung Jo, Lee Mi Sook, Lee Soon Jae
Drama Rating: 9/10 Neck Score: A+
I don't know if I've ever seen a more perfect revenge drama, or a more perfect makjang drama. This was thoroughly enjoyable all around. But then when you have someone like Jang Hyuk to pull off the subtle expression acting as he portrayed the icon of restraint and cold calculation, Kang Pil Joo, even the most ridiculous of makjang becomes wonderful. It really brings new life to that revenge being served cold business. He was the freaking puppet master king! No one suspected him, no one could stop him, he was just smarter and better than everyone, and it was so fun to watch. So many secret plots, so much manipulation, and so many secret DNA tests! Haha!

Monster Fail: When Characters "Grow Up" Badly
I guess this is going to be the closest I get to reviewing Monster, because I couldn't take it and dropped it, which is rare for me because I am a finisher. But unlike all the other stupid shows that I finished when I should have just dropped them (like My Barfable Girl and Boorim School) I knew when to quit with this one.
Maybe because it is 50 episodes long and I couldn't even force myself to watch episode 20... That might seem like too long already, but I did want to give a chance, because Park Ki Woong, but it wasn't enough. One of the biggest reasons I couldn't muscle through was that I couldn't like the main couple. Well, I honestly didn't like the main dude. He just wasn't right for that role, and the biggest reason was because he was too old and nothing like his younger self. For the first time, the younger selves were better and everything was ruined when the show time jumped our OTP (and I use that term loosely) into a pair of less likable peeps.
Escape! There are 30 more episodes!! |

Birth of a Beauty: How One Couple Made a Drama Worth Watching- or why they should let couples be cute for longer
Having just recently finished up the ridiculous Romantic Comedy Revenge Melodrama that was Birth of a Beauty, I feel inclined to discuss why I even watched it in the first place and what made me keep watching it. It was like the best and the worst at the same. Insanely cute romantic comedy, ridiculous and scream worthy makjang. I guess the balance was enough to make me keep coming back?
This is the reason I started it:
And this is why I kept watching:
But there is so much more to it.
