154. Ex-Girlfriend Club 구여친클럽 (2015) Korean

Song Ji Hyo,  Byun Yo Han, Lee Yoon Ji, Jang Ji Eun, Hwa Young

Drama Rating: 6/10    Neck Score: A

I'm sadder that this show was cancelled than I thought I would be.  I didn't like the episodes where everything started to go crappy, because it seemed like too much all at once, and then I heard that they had cancelled the show and so they were wrapping up quickly.  They did manage to make it not suck so much with the sudden shortening.  I am super shocked that it was doing so poorly in ratings, because I loved it.  I love Ji Hyo and Byun Yo Han was adorably amazing in it.  I also loved and hated the three exes at the same time, which is good.  It's just sad that it got a bit weird in the middle.  I was getting frustrated at the exes because the OTP was too cute and they were starting to get to the annoying point, but it was also so funny at the same time.  I thought because of how cray it was getting that ending it sooner would be good, but it still came off as a bit abrupt.  It was like they solved too much and not enough at the same time.  It was weird.  Not bad, just weird.  I still liked it.  I think the biggest reason I was dissatisfied was that it wasted too much time on drama that didn't matter and then only gave us superficial fixes to the rest.  Even our OTP was only given cutesy time while never getting into any real emotional depth in their relationship, which is why they still looked like best friends or a high school couple at best.  This is one of the problems with shortening shows, however with the way they were dragging out the love triangle and other annoying crap, I do have my doubts as to whether they were ever going to go there, even after they made a big deal about the sexy time earlier in the show.  I don't know, I still liked it, but the ending was decidedly lackluster and left me feeling a bit underwhelmed.

87. Goong aka Princess Hours 궁 (2006) Korean

Yoon Eun Hye, Joo Ji Hyun, Kim Jung Hoon, Song Ji Hyo

Drama Rating: 4.5/10     Neck Score: C

This is a C for bad neck wear.  I'm talking to you Cat in the Hat bow ties, lame collars, turtlenecks, and gay necklaces.  Also amazingly bad hair.  That should put it to C---.  Also, I hate Yul, that bitca.  Ok, as much as this show sucks, I had to watch it.  It was like crack too.  I think the parts that make it weirdly horrible is the fact that this is literally a modern sageuk, with the whole princess and palace crap.  So she's an ordinary girl but somehow she is chosen to marry the crown prince.  This leads to problems as he is still caught up on the other girl Hyo Rin (Ji Hyo) who turned him down, but now regrets her choice.  Then there is Yul, who is the bitca of the piece.  Seriously, he is the bitca while Hyo Rin is more like the other dude.  She's the man and he is the conniving bitca.  The crap that goes on in the palace is something that would only fly in Joseon times, seriously.  The bitca Yul and her his bitca mom are completely cray cray.  Everyone you started out liking at the beginning turns out to be lame and the people you didn't like at first turn out to be the only cool people.  Seriously.  When you first meet the prince you think he's a bratty jerk, but he turns out to be the only person you love, while Yul, who you think is a nice guy is really a bitca.  You start out liking the king and thinking the queen is too harsh and then you're like "the king is a stupid jerk and the queen is the only smart person here!"  Also it gets really draggy because it's 24 when it should only be 20 episodes (another thing that makes it like a sageuk).  The ending is also like wut?  But still, once you start watching you have to finish it, even if you are screaming about how much you hate Yul the whole second half.  Also those little teddy bear ending scenes.  At first I thought they were weird, but then they were some of the only things I loved.  This show (head shake).

81. Emergency Couple 응급남녀 (2014) Korean

Choi Jin Hyuk, Song Ji Hyo, Lee Pil Mo, Choi Yeo Jin, Clara

Drama Rating: 5/10     Neck Score: A

I was so excited about this one because love Choi Jin Hyuk and wanted to see him be the leading man for once, and I love Song Ji Hyo (yay Running Man!).  However, from episode 1 this was very poorly done.  The whole exes breaking up and then getting thrown back together through the workplace is pretty compelling, but this one tried too hard to be a comedy.  It is really a medical drama, with lots of sad medical things happening, which was fine, but every time it tried to be funny it was cheesy, dumb and utterly ridiculous.  I still watched it, but I was so disappointed in it.  Some supposed to be funny scenes just made me roll my eyes.  Whatever.  For an exes getting back together drama Cunning Single Lady was way better.  This one still had redeeming qualities.  For how badly it was written, the actors did a really good job.  I liked the chemistry especially on Choi Jin Hyuk's side.  Sadly, they didn't write Song Ji Hyo's character well, so when she finally decided to get her man back, it was weak at best.  They had her holding out too long, so it seemed lame when she suddenly decided she wanted him again.  The weird relationship with the chief was weird too.  She needed to show more resistance against wanting her ex at least, since it just seemed like she hated him the whole time.  Oh well.  Still liked it ok, but not as good as it could have been.  I think it just needed to be not a comedy and it already would have been better.  But I did love her little sister and brother in law.  Some of the comedic aspects weren't that bad, just when they were trying too hard to be funny.
