343. Angel's Last Mission: Love 단, 하나의 사랑 (2019) Korean

I think this show might be more fully appreciated if you happen to be a Myung Soo fan, which I am. I was sucked right in because of him. I love him and fully acknowledge he isn't the best actor, but I was super impressed with him in this. He is definitely getting better, which I love. Another you just have to know from the start is that it's one of those impossible situations full of forbidden love, so it's going to be a cry fest at times and then fall apart at the end because the set up make a happy ending that makes sense almost impossible. That is, it's possible, but the writers seemed to not want to use logic, so it kind of got weird at the end. But Myung Soo still made it worth it for me. Also, Lee Dong Gun. I love him. I especially love how he can be the second male lead/antagonist/villain and still rock it, being lovably loathsome, etc. Not that his character here was loathsome, he was an antagonist at best. But he rocked it, despite the writing of his character being weird. Like motivation-wise.  Basically the writing wasn't terrible, but it went downhill a bit as the drama progressed and went to pot by the end.

327. Where Stars Land 여우각시별 (Korean) 2018

Drama Rating: 5/10     Neck Score: A+

Despite loving all of the actors in this show, it wasn't as good as could be hoped. It either didn't have a plot, or there were too many loose ends in whatever plot it was about. I thought it was about a bunch of people working at an airport who all had some kind of issues, but apparently the real plot was Lee Dong Gun and Lee Je Hoon's issues? Or is it? Was it just the techno arm/he doesn't want to be handicapped deal? Was it really just about the relationship? There were too many little plots to say which was the main plot, but the one that suddenly ended it all was the thrown in at the last minute: hyung's got issues with the mafia and you're broken, son. I guess that sums up the plot. Because that was the one that got the biggest resolution... except there were too many things not explained, so actually there was no real resolution. Did that make me hate the show? Not really. The ending wasn't so much the problem. It was the middle stuff.

277. Queen for Seven Days 일의 왕비 (2017) Korean

I don't remember why it took me forever to start this one.  But I do know why it took me forever to finish it, and neither reason was because it wasn't a great show.  I think I was swamped with dramas at the time and I had to put it in the queue, but as I had only heard good things about it, I knew I had to watch it.  I ended up just watching it alone, because we can't watch all the dramas together because then it would never happen, even though Curdy is totally in love Yeon Woo Jin.  But that didn't stop them from jumping in and watching the super dramatic parts.  They even got mad one time when I watched the next episode without them because it was the part where he was finally going to put everything on the line for her.  I think it had been too long since we'd watched a full blown romance.

So I struggled watching it in the middle probably because I was too into it and I couldn't handle it at the time.  I think I was too stressed and it was so hard at the time.  But that was why it was so good.  It was about a very controversial time in history, with another one of those brotherly struggles for the crown where no one really wins because they're family, but everyone has some reason for being sympathetic.  But those brothers were the worst as they caught our girl in the middle.  I couldn't handle that at the moment, so I had to take a really long break.  But then, as I had to take a picture for my Tiny Edition of Women Who Make Me Watch Dramas Against My Will, and it worked.  I love Park Min Young enough that I finished the drama.  I was also just ready again.  Ready for a good but hard to watch in parts drama.  I had watched enough fluff and was ready for some meat, because that is what this show is.  The real stuff.

232. Laurel Tree Tailors 월계수 양복점 신사들 (2016) Korean

50 episode family dramas are not everyone's cup of tea, but they are starting to be mine.  You have to pick a good one of course.  One that has something that grips you enough to make you want to stick around for 50 episodes.  This one might just have been 4 hot men in suits.  No, it wasn't just because all of these 4 male leads in this were super attractive and people I love, it was for the characters themselves.  Every single couple was cute for the most part, which meant that I was shipping everyone.  Even the villains were not that villainous.  Yes, that means the show was cheesy and moralistic and everyone got redeemed to a point at the end, but it also means that this is a show where people learn and grow, and I loved the journey.  It was downright weird to see flashbacks to the start when everyone was a young idiot or disliked each other, or had misunderstandings, etc., because by the end they had all matured and it was wonderful.  Now I had to talk myself into watching this, because it was 50 episodes.  I love Lee Dong Gun and I love Ra Mi Ran.  Then Choi Won Young tipped the scales for me.  He is my ahjussi actor, one of the ones that I love the most, so I just had too.  Then I was not disappointed.  He was a rock star (literally) who then became a trot star so his honey voice was responsible for most of the OST, which I cannot complain about.  We also saw him start off as a selfish has been full of pride to becoming the most humble family man.  We saw push overs becoming pillars of strength, and we saw people becoming family and having a family.  It was basically adorable.  I think I cried during every wedding scene (literally did during my ahjussi's wedding.  The sunshine couple- so cute!  The cheesy couple (the OTP, Dong Jin and Yeon Sil)- too adorable!  I loved how all the families felt real.  My favorite family might have been the antagonist's family, Dong Jin's ex-wife and her step family.  I know that mom was my favorite.  I loved Hyo Won and Hyo Sang's brother/sister teasing.  I loved Hyo Sang even though he was a little poo butt with an inferiority complex.  I did tend to hate the ex-wife and ex-girls friends who were the bitcas of the show, as well as the fake husband, who was a crazy liar gangster, but even they had their redeeming qualities.  Yes, the show was long.  Yes, it had it's fair share of makjang (you guys know that I actually like that stuff), but it was cute, and it game me the feels.  Now, I'm going to go listen to Susanna's Handkerchief for the umpteenth time.

143. Super Daddy Yeol 슈퍼대디 열 (2015) Korean

I loved this show when it was about Yeol becoming a good dad.  I had a harder time with it when it was about the mom dying of cancer.  Well, it was part of the basic premise, so it's not like I wasn't prepared for it, but I just am so sick of people lying to protect people, and being a noble idiot because they think suffering on their own is better for everyone.  Boo that.  I did have a problem with that, but the truth is, for a drama about cancer, it was really realistic.  Going through all the stages of cancer with the being scared, trying to run away, giving up, etc. was annoyingly accurate, or seemed so.  I haven't actually had to deal with that, but it was more realistic than some others.  Also the ending was more realistic too.  No magical tie everything up nicely with a bow, but still good.  Lee Dong Gun is just great too.  So sexy, so perfect as a retired gone coach athlete.  Sexy with a little belly.  My favorite was the father/daughter relationship build.  That was just cute.

63. Marry Him If You Dare 미래의 선택 (2013) Korean

Yong Hwa further ruined for me.  I really hated this one, which is sad because I really loved it at first.  It was a really interesting premise of a lady who goes back in time to change her life because of all the crap that happened.  She wanted to stop herself from marrying the man she married.  The interesting part was she was still so obviously in love with that man, even as an old woman, that you wondered why she wanted to change that fact.  Also, Lee Dong Gun, you are a handsome man.  I had tried to watch him in a drama before, but it was so old and stupid that I never got far.  I tried again because of this show and still didn't get far.  I hated the lead girl.  Anyways, Lee Dong Gun is the husband that she wants to keep herself from marrying, but both her present and future selfs are still falling in love with him despite everything.  I also love that he's a news anchor but has a super foul mouth.  Also, fell in love with him that time he put on the Darth Vader costume.  Yep.  Loved him.  Anyways, I really hated Yong Hwa's character in this one too, but if he just stayed the other guy that would have been fine, but all the sudden the writers went completely crazy and changed the plot completely making it into not a romance but a self-discovery of the main girl, leaving the ending completely open, weird and stupid.  I don't know if the Yong Hwa fans protested or something, but whatever it was shouldn't have happened.  A potentially interesting show was completely ruined by suddenly completely horrible writing.  I don't normally outright hate a show by the ending, not even Boys Over Flowers, but I seriously hated this one.  Boo!!!!!!!  Learn to write peeps!
