The Girl Who Sees Yoochun Being Better at Comedy... and Everything Else

Why do all the good post worthy dramas have to begin/end right when finals and busy happens?  Here I am trying to catch up on all my posts when I should be writing papers and completing projects... or going to bed.  Whatever, I needed to post this because I love this drama.

It's Yoochun, of course I love it.  Also, it's Yoochun playing a perfect deadpan.  Yes, yes, yes.

85. Three Days 쓰리 데이즈 (2014) Korean

Loved this drama!  Super cool action drama where Park Yoonchun is a secret service man who has to find the president after an attempted assassination, and then figure out all the different conspiracies and things that the president is up against (or maybe involved in, etc.).  Well, it is a bit Michael Bayish, in the special effects department, which is a huge part of it.  Seriously, this show is all about the action and very, very minimal romance.  It it supposed to take place in like 9 days tops.  Like each mission is 3 days.  But I loved the police girl, so smart and cool.  Lots of twisted mysteries with people double crossing other people and lots of peeps dying.  There is a lot of blood and death.  Really it's a great action drama that is perfect for the action and not so much the realisticness or whatever.  It's a fun action drama.  Also the bad peeps are really good at being bad.  They're pretty muc completely cray cray, which makes for a good action show.  Also, Park Yoochun is great as always, and even hotter when beating people up (especially in that black hoodie, rawr!)

38. Sungkyunkwan Scandal 성균관 스캔들 (2010) Korean

It's the classic girl dresses as a dude, only it's also a sageuk (historical).  Only the themes of the show are so not traditional that it would have to be called more of a fusion sageuk.  Still it's fun, and it has three really handsome mens in it.  Personally, I fell in love with Song Joong Ki the most (which is totally understandable because he is awesome) but you really just have to love them all.  This was Yoochun's first real acting role (because those DBSK drama specials def totes don't count) and he does a really, really good job.  Also, JYJ all chipped in and did some OST for it, so we get to see Yoochun's face and hear Jaejoong and Junsu's beautiful voices.  Win and WIN!  We've got the main plot of her being a girl dressed as a boy and then forced into taking the entrance exams for Sungkyunkwan, which is basically the royal scholar academy (totally getting in obviously) and having to deal with the peeps who don't like her and are trying to kick her out, and then we have this other mystery plot involving the king and politics (because every sageuk needs that requirement), and then we have the love story that is entangled with everything else. Cheesy, but fun.  Easy on the eyes and as typical sageuks go, very undramatic, which is good.  Also we have a sort of cameo appearance of little Lee Min Ho (not the BOF star) who you might recognize as one of the ducklings in Rooftop Prince, one of Yoochun's later dramas.  Sweet deal.  Lots of moralizing too.  Honestly, the very ending is the worst part in terms of cheese, but in general it's an enjoyable show.

8. Rooftop Prince 옥탑방 왕세자 (2012) Korean

This was my first current drama.  I actually had to wait for the episodes every week.  I also graduated from Netflix to DramaFever and Viki.  I have to say that the second time round made me realize how bad some of the aspects of this was.  The first episode is pretty boring and lame.  It's a fusion sageuk (historical) with the past coming to the present.  So when it was two separate story lines (the past from the Joseon Dynasty and the modern day people) it was super boring and lame, but as soon as the prince, played by the talented Park Yoochun (also from JYJ/DBSK) and his three henchmen, arrive in the modern times it gets way better.  The plot itself is full of holes and super cheesy and way too dramatic at parts, the bad guy is probably the lamest bad guy ever- he can't kill anyone no matter how hard he tries- but the acting of the main couple and the three ducklings (Yoochun's men) make it worth while.  You do have to be down with the reincarnation cop out.  Also, I may or may not have certain scenes cued up on my Netflix account so I can watch them over and over again when I need a cheer up.  Hint: it's not the kissing scenes (although those are good), it involves Tae Moo (Lee Tae Sung) making the best faces ever.
