Choi Gang Hee, Yoo In Young, Kim Ji Young, Lee Sang Yeob, Lee Jun Young, Lee Jong Hyuk
Drama Rating: 7/10 Neck Score: A+
Good Casting was a good combination of awesome spy action, comedy, and romance. It is the girl power spy show that isn't afraid to just be silly. The best part is that while all the women are off being bad-A spies and getting things done, the dudes all think they are in some kind of romantic comedy. But even though the ladies are pretty awesome, they are also pretty flawed, which I know made some people struggle at the beginning. This isn't a show about perfect, top notch spies. It's about a bunch of misfit spies who were thrown together to not get the job done, but they get it done anyway, even with all the slapstick.
Baek Chan Mi (Choi Gang Hee) is a loose cannon who lets her temper get the best of her, making huge mistakes. She lost the target and endangered a team member last time, so is determined to not to lose him this time. Hwang Mi Soon (Kim Ji Young) is basically retired and living the life of an ahjumma. She is rusty at best, but is still crazy good at undercover, in spite of her being past her prime. Im Ye Eun (Yoo In Young) is a white agent (think completely green). She's been working for the NIS for a while, but has kept out of the field and worked support and tech. This is her first field assignment. She is also a single mom. They are all put on a team to catch Michael, an elusive international technology thief/dealer. Michael managed to escape and kill Chan Mi's teammate last time, and this team is the last resort.

309. Queen of Mystery 2 추리의 여왕 2 (2018) Korean
Kwon Sang Woo, Choi Gang Hee, Lee Da Hee, Park Byung Eun
Drama Rating: 6/10 Neck Score: B
This "season" left me liking it about as much as the first season did. I liked it while I was watching it, but got annoyed at all the lose ends it left. Because it keeps assuming that it's going to get another season, while I keep assuming that it won't. Also it annoys me how it spends so much time on other things instead of focusing on the main plot like it should. What does it think it is, an American TV show? But other than the ending and the lack of real progression, it was it's good old charming self. I love that we got to delve deeper into relationships and develop new ones. I missed some of the old characters and liked some of the new ones. It was one of the more decent second seasons.

257. Queen of Mystery 추리의 여왕 (2017) Korean
Choi Gang Hee, Kwon Sang Woo, Lee Won Keun, Shin Hyun Bin, Kim Hyun Sook
Drama Rating: 6/10 Neck Score: A
I liked it enough to binge watch it over the weekend, but was left unsatisfied by the ending. It was like it wanted to be too much, and in the end was rushed and too open ended. I liked it when it was just two stubborn detectives, one a cop and the other an ahjumma, but when they tried to make it a romance it fell a bit flat. They definitely had something, but it wasn't the romantic kind of love, so I was glad that they left that as open as the rest of the end. It was pleading to be at least a 20 episoder, or have a sequal season, but it was neither of those things either.
They had plenty of cases where they built up the characters and developed relationships. They also hinted at a bigger mystery of what happened to his first love and what happened to her parents, but they didn't really start tying it all together and giving us any information on that until way too late in the show. The last two episodes were way too rushed and almost felt like a totally different drama. It made the last episode so draggy, because I knew it was ending, but it was acting like it had 4 more episodes to go. This made it both draggy and rushed as they crammed all they could in, and then left it open, saying they solved that much of it, but it's not over yet. Duh duh duhhhhhhh.
Lame.
I knew they were going to try for a romance, but I kept being conflicted about wanting to. I saw him liking her, but I thought it would be ridiculous for her to like him back, especially when she was married. They also didn't do a good enough job making her husband unlikable. I don't cotton to cheating and having couples get divorced so the OTP can be together, so the only way to make that work would be to have him be a complete evil jerk, or have their marriage be over right at the beginning, before any main couple relationship could start. They did neither. The husband was only human and an idiot, and it was clear that he loved her (although he probably loved himself a little more). He could also just be weak and ambitious. None of those are quite enough to lead to cheating or a divorce, but maybe a fight and some repenting are in order. It was ambiguous whether any cheating actually happened, so I could never completely hate him. That's just my opinion. I was torn a lot because the main couple does have a good chemistry, but not necessarily romantic. Friends is fine. It's almost a bromance. Although the real bromance is steamier.
I did love Sissy Cute Neck's (I'm sorry, that Phantom nickname will never go away) relationships. He had a puppy crush on his "teacher" and an awkward bromance with the male lead, who loved to tease him. It was great. I loved the couple pajamas parts.
I really think they didn't use the main plot enough. The second female lead was barely in it. I would have loved to see more Jang Do Jang, and to know much sooner why our detective was so obsessed with catching him. So many things could have been better. It was ok as it was, but ultimately disappointing.
What was not disappointing, because Ahn Kil Kang is never disappointing, was the side characters and secondary romance. I was hoping that was going to go down from the start. Yes! Other than that, it was decently creepy at parts. I loved the creepy use of that Rose of Sharon song, it did its job well, but as for well written and ending, the drama stalled and putted across the finish line.

41. Level 7 Civil Servant 7급 공무원 (2013) Korean
Joo Won, Choi Gang Hee, Chansung, Ahn Nae Sang, Kim Min Seo
Drama Rating: 5/10 Neck Score: A
Super cheesy, but hey, it had Joo Won in it. Also it has an interesting spy premise. It is actually based off of a 2009 movie with Kang Ji Hwan and Kim Ha Neul in it, which is way better. It's hilarious, in fact. But this show was ok. Not the best, but not too bad. The most annoying part was the trust issues that came with a spy couple. Also the other guy, Chansung, was super annoying until he stopped being the other guy. He's super hot, and now he's my 2pm bias. Actually, I might have liked the older actors in this one better, because the characters of the young-uns are a bit annoying. Also Choi Gang Hee looks old enough to be Joo Won's mom sometimes. Aunt at least. Not really, but she definitely looks older than him. But he's got a young face.

6. Protect the Boss 보스를 지켜라 (2011) Korean
Ji Sung, Choi Gang Hee, Kim Jaejoong
Drama Rating: 8/10 Neck Score: A+
I actually tried to watch this one before You're Beautiful, however the first 5 minutes reminded me too much of Boys Over Flowers (the whole delinquent girl beating up all the boys and a guy with weird hair) that I couldn't bring myself to watch it. Then I gave it another go after a while and it proved to be awesome. The best part of this show is that it doesn't take itself seriously, and even makes fun of it's genre- business/chaebol drama. Even the evil parents find themselves unable to be evil in the face of the all powerful grandma. Also it's got two delightful men in it. Ji Sung is a great actor and quite handsome, and Kitty (Kim Jaejoong) suddenly replaced everyone in my heart. It didn't hurt that while I was watching this I also happened to stumble on JYJ/DBSK. The bromance between this two cousins (Ji Sung and Jaejoong) is way better than any of the romance, which is way good. Love the "girl" fights they have when they finally get down to it.
