272. Attention, Love 稍息立正我愛你 (2017) Taiwanese

I both loved and hated this one, because it was cute and fun, and it also drove me nuts.  How many excuses can they give to make a couple clearly in love not be together?  That is basically the plot of the show, a twist on Mischievous Kiss, really.  Two kids who were basically betrothed at birth meet again in high school and fall in love, then anything that could possibly keep them apart keeps them apart.  Like he's running away from his feelings the whole time because it was hard enough for him to just accept her as his best friend and family, so taking it to the next level was too much.  Then everything getting in the way in between, it was pretty unreal.  But most of the characters were so lovable that it was fine wading through all the frustrating "you like each other, why aren't you together yet?" if you just sat back and enjoyed the ride.  Mind you, for me that was difficult to do, but it made it easier.  It also had a trolling habit of making you think things were going to be much more extreme.  Like everything will be ruined next week, or they're going to finally get together, or he's going to be even more of a psychopath, etc.  None of it ever really happened, which was part good and part frustrating.

Female Leads Who I Just Can't Get Behind or Relate To

I couldn't write a post on Frustrating Male Leads without including a post about equally as frustrating female leads.  We want girls we can relate to, so we can put ourselves in their shoes and get all the feels when they get the man.  But sometimes all we get is a severe desire to shake some sense into the stupid things because they are just plain stupid, frustrating, annoying, and sometimes just bad actresses.

I understand that not everyone can be a good actor, but if they aren't, then why are they getting cast in lead roles?  Seriously, are they related to someone?  Are they a chaebol or an idol?  Sadly, sometimes they are not, and bad acting can make an already weak character unbearable.  So here are some unbearably not relatable female leads.

Male Leads Who Are As Frustrating As Heck

With the end of Warm and Cozy, we have to talk about the fact that Baek Geon Woo was probably one of the most frustrating male leads ever.  I wanted to like him, but couldn't, because he wasn't the same (or nice) for more than two seconds.  He was so freaking frustrating!

Anyways, it made us scream all the time.  It didn't help that The Producers also had two of the most frustrating male leads ever.  I seriously wanted to grab those boys by the shoulders and shake some sense into both of them.  So I made a list of all the most frustrating male leads.  There are so many that are just jerks, and for too long, and its just bah!  So here are the ones that made my list:

16. Playful Kiss 장난스런 키스 (2010) Korean

Kim Hyun Joong, Jung So Min, Lee Tae Sung

I actually started watching this earlier, got 2 minutes into it, and stopped because it was so bad.  Then one holiday weekend, when I was feeling very low and needed something so bad, I just finished it.  It really was bad.  So cheesy, bad acting, silly plot.  (I've since read the manga and watched the Japanese and Taiwanese versions).  This is probably the worst version of this story, mostly because of the bad acting and weird writing choices, such as combining two characters to make one bad other chick.  The character I liked most was "Tae Moo" which is the character's name the actor played in Rooftop Prince, aka Bong Joon Gu (Lee Tae Sung).  He had hot hair and then later when he cut it, hotter hair.  Also a hot neck.  Kim Hyun Joong has a pretty face and hot neck, but he really can't act.  He looked blank the whole time, unless he was angry at her, and then he looked like he hated her.  Even after they were married I didn't believed one bit that he loved her.  She was just annoying.  Out of all the girls, she was the most annoying.  Just... no.  So hot men, but not worth the time.  If you must watch a show of this manga then I recommend the newest Japanese version first (Mischievous Kiss: Love in Tokyo) and then the Taiwanese version (It Started with a Kiss).
