66. Unemployed Romance 실업급여 로맨스 (2013) Korean

Lee Young Ah, Nam Goong Min, Suh Joon Young, Bae Seul Gi

Drama Rating: 5.5/10     Neck Score: B

This is just a cheesy little romcom, it's only 10 episodes long.  Watched it for Lee Young Ah, wasn't too disappointed either.  It's about a couple who met in college and then dated for forever, broke up without a great explanation, and then met each other years later when she went to the unemployement office where he worked.  The great thing about it is that the first half is completely from her perspective, and then it switches to his perspective so we can see both sides of the story.  It is also hilarious.  My favorite part is when he deals with the breakup with the rice cooker.  It is one of those fancy ones that talks, and he keeps talking to it, having it make rice and stuff.  It is nothing glamorous, but it is pretty funny, especially with the ridiculous things they do trying to keep from admitting that they still have feelings for each other.  In the romance department it's pretty realistic, with people over thinking things, things being messy, trying to chose the best despite what they heart says.  Both leads are pretty much the most awkward people ever, so that's cool.  It's just a cute little drama, with a bit of a weird ending.  They always do that in shows about writers though.  They have to write about what we just watched, turning life experience into a bestselling book or drama, whatever.

39. King of Baking, Kim Tak Gu 제빵왕 김탁구 (2010) Korean

Yoon Si Yoon, Joo Won, Eugene, Lee Young Ah

Drama Rating: 4/10     Neck Score: B-

This is one of those dreaded family dramas that are usually 50 episodes long.  This one is only 30, but I am still not ashamed to say that I watched most of it on fast speed.  As in, I only watched the parts that had the young peeps in it, and none of the parent crap.  Clearly, I watched this because of my new found love for Yoon Si Yoon, but he doesn't even appear in it until episode 6 because it starts out as kids.  This is a birth secrets drama.  No!!!!!  But it's ok as long as you fast forward the family drama part and keep to the kids drama.  I speed watched the first few episodes to get the jist of it and then skipped all the parent parts during the show.  It was tolerable then.  Super makjang though (cliched overly dramatic) also... does the other guy get the main girl?  Cause that's what it looks like.  It's ok.  Everyone loved Yoonie and Young Ah together anyways.  They're the REAL OTP (one true pairing).  Yoon Si Yoon is a pretty crier though.  Also, despite his bad attitude, I ended up really loving Joo Won, who is an amazing actor too.  Also, upon rewatching some of it, I realized that Yoonie had the worst fat face/neck in this.  It was horrible when paired with his nasty mullet-like hair.  I had to bump this don't to a B- since Joo Won's neck is still good.  If you want to see Yoon Si Yoon's hot neck, this is not the drama for that.

26. Vampire Prosecutor 2 뱀파이어 검사 2 (2012) Korean

Yeon Jeong Hun, Lee Won Jong, Lee Young Ah, Kwon Hyun Sang

Drama Rating: 6/10      Neck Score: A

Eh, not as good as the first.  It started out ok, with new hair cuts all around- deliberately making the girl look more feminine, making us think that something might actually happen between them this time.  A lot more staring at her neck this season too.  Also, another very very sexy vampire showing up, looking super super sexy with red eyes (wow, Kwon Hyun Sang, you're not the cute little soldier from King 2 Hearts any more!)  The arching plot gets super complicated, but then doesn't really get solved (an attempt to get a 3rd season) and we are left with a cliff hanger ending.  Also, they focused too much on other peeps and not enough on our main vampire man.  They also had some episodes devoted completely to fan service, since we'll probably never have a real romance between them, as he's a vampire and can't love a normal girl cause he'd probably just end up biting her.  I'd like there to be a 3rd season, but I don't think that will ever happen, and they've already done a spin off so that is further proof.

25. Vampire Prosecutor 뱀파이어 검사 (2011) Korean

Yeon Jeong Hun, Lee Won Jong, Lee Young Ah, Jang Hyun Sung

Drama Rating: 7/10      Neck Score: A

I don't normally like vampire anything.  I feel they are an overused not so cool monster option.  But I actually liked this.  I'll admit I watched this initially for Yeon Jeong Hun, but from the first moment I liked what they did.  It's like the Korean Law & Order only the prosecutor is a vampire who uses his skills to solve the crimes.  He can like "read blood" to recreate the scene, and if he drinks a bit of the victim's blood he can see their last few moments to get clues as to who their killer is.  Then it's more of a serial with new cases each episode, but also an over arching storyline of him trying to find the vampire who killed his little sister and made him a vampire too.  Another good point is the girl.  Lee Young Ah plays an awesome bad-a prosecutor chick who might have roots in the mafia.  She's never the damsel in distress, and if she is, she puts up a really good fight and never looks like a sissy.  Yes, this is making vampires sexy, which is my least favorite thing... but he was sexy before he was a vampire and it's not about that, it's about solving crime, which is awesome.
