Korean Movie Night: Collective Invention 돌연변이 (2015) Korean

Lee Kwang Soo, Park Bo Young, Lee Chun Hee, Jang Gwang, Lee Byung Joon, Kim Hee Won

Movie rating: 8/10     Neck score: ?? (A?)

I was both happy and sad to watch this because while Kwang Soo is an amazing actor who can emote even with a fish head on, it meant that I didn't get to see his face the entire time, and that always makes me sad. Plus, it is a show about a man who gets turned into a half fish man, so how happy could it be? It was definitely designed to get you in the feels. It brings up the dilemma of what is right, between the advancement of science and cultural economy and human rights. The whole time everyone is fighting over Park Goo (Lee Kwang Soo) and what should happen to him, Goo is just so humble and patient about it. It makes the heart bleed for him.

162. I Remember You 너를 기억해 (2015) Korean

Seo In Guk, Jang Na Ra, Lee Chun Hee, Choi Won Young, Park Bo Gum

Drama Rating: 9/10     Neck Score: A+

What a consistently good drama.  Sad it didn't have super ratings in Korea, but it was competing with popular ones.  Maybe it's just because I like psychological thrillers, murder dramas, and all the actors in this show, but I just loved it.  Park Bo Gum!  Why do you have to steal my heart every time!?!  I loved how organic the relationship was.  All the relationships.  Even the bromancey type deal between the detective and "Dave."  But I loved how the romance took it's time and progressed at a natural pace for someone so unemotional as Lee Hyun.  Also big slow clap for Jang Na Ra, she impresses me every role, and this time she did good with the action, bad-a detective.  Basically everyone did a great job, especially Choi Won Young and Park Bo Gum- and super epic slow clap for Do Kyung Soo for once again rocking his acting skills for a creepier role.  He played a good psychopath.  Woo woot.

96. Dating Agency: Cyrano 연애조작단; 시라노 (2013) Korean

Lee Jong Hyuk, Choi Sooyoung, Lee Chun Hee, Hong Jong Hyun, Jo Yoon Woo

Drama Rating: 5/10     Neck Score: A

This is the last of the current Flower Boy series, and probably the lamest of all of them.  I still liked it, but as a Flower Boy drama it was a bit lame.  Both lead mens were on the older side, with Jong Hyuk being quite old, but he's still pretty enough to be a flower man at least.  It had a nice serial feel to it as the dating agency has a new case every few episodes.  I'll admit that the only reason I broke down and watched it was because Lee Kwang Soo was one of the clients.  I almost just watched episodes 6-8 for him, when I decided that I liked the main cast well enough to give it a chance.  It was ok good, it just wasn't as gripping as some of them.  I think the main story arc probably had the most holes and silly drama in it.  Also, Master gave most people the second lead syndrome.  I didn't love him as much as most people, but he was cooler than the main guy.  I have no idea why she didn't fall in love with him instead.  But he never had a chance, unlike some other peeps who have a chance and don't take it, or have a chance but don't deserve it.  I think he was probably friends zones from moment one.  Sad day.  It get cray cray at the ending, but ends ok.  My favorite episodes are 6-8.  I was actually excited about those episodes.  Other good cameos include Gong Yoo, Lee Chung Ah, and Choi Won Young.
