292. Money Flower 돈꽃 (2017) Korean

Jang Hyuk, Park Se Young, Jang Seung Jo, Lee Mi Sook, Lee Soon Jae

Drama Rating: 9/10     Neck Score: A+

I don't know if I've ever seen a more perfect revenge drama, or a more perfect makjang drama. This was thoroughly enjoyable all around. But then when you have someone like Jang Hyuk to pull off the subtle expression acting as he portrayed the icon of restraint and cold calculation, Kang Pil Joo, even the most ridiculous of makjang becomes wonderful. It really brings new life to that revenge being served cold business. He was the freaking puppet master king! No one suspected him, no one could stop him, he was just smarter and better than everyone, and it was so fun to watch. So many secret plots, so much manipulation, and so many secret DNA tests! Haha!

I loved all those scenes when someone's plot would fail and he would come in, show them how foolish they had been, an then leave them to feel the full weight of the power he has over them. Mmm so satisfying. And he was so equal of his treatment of everyone. Including himself. It was just satisfying to watch the entire way through.

I also absolutely loved watching my bae, Lee Mi Sook, as well. Really, with her and Jang Hyuk I had to watch this. She did not disappoint as well. So subtly crazy yet so classy too. Classy and evil. Really it was mind blowing how awful pretty much everyone in the show is. At least everyone in that family. I loved Boo Cheon, although he was a loser. But compared to the rest of the family he was a victim. But he was kind of a loser, soft and weak and perfect for pushing around.

One of my favorite parts was though there was a bit of love and romance stuff in it, it was never going to be more important than revenge. That's one of the things that kept it good. So much repressed feelings, so many broken hearts, lives, dreams, friendships. And the ending was perfect for tying up the ends that needed to be, but not putting a bow on it and making it cute. It was just as harsh as the rest of the show, bringing justice, but not necessarily happiness. It was just as empty and hollow as revenge is. It was the perfect revenge. I'm going to miss watching this one. I'm going to miss my Pil Joo.
